Pete Doherty Crucifixion Sculpture Auctioned

A controversial sculpture of the singer Pete Doherty nailed to a cross is being auctioned next week.The life-size artwork was created to reflect what the artists considered to be Doherty's "crucifixion by the media". It is part of an exhibition in St Marylebone Parish church in London and will be sold to the highest bidder to raise funds for the continuing search for the curator's missing brother.

Not in front of the telly: Warning over 'listening' TV

Samsung is warning customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their smart television set. The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature. Such TV sets 'listen' to every conversation held in front of them and may share any details they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said. Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell's 1984, which spied on citizens.

International Meeting on Charlie Hebdo

The meeting will take place this Sunday, 11 January, at the French Ministry of Interior and will be attended by the Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos. This meeting will bring together European Ministers of Interior and the United States Attorney General in order to discuss EU and international efforts to tackle challenges of common concern.
